Chair Weaving Patterns and Services
There are three ways to weave most stools and ladder-back chairs -
splint, rush and close cane.
Splint and close cane are like a basket weave with a twill pattern.
Rush is high grade of paper that looks like twine and is woven from corner to center of seat to form a triangle pattern converging at the center of the seat.
There are two ways to bottom a side chair - Press or Six Step.
Press type uses a commercially woven cane and is attached to chair seat frame in a groove with a spline.
Six Step is hand woven through the holes in the seat.
Both look the same when finished.
Please phone or E-mail for pricing of weaving and instruction material.
